Tips for Writing Your Own Wedding Vows

Wedding Rings With Red FlowerYou can make your better half fall in love with you more by writing your very own wedding vow.  It’s like writing down your own love story and letting the entire world know about it. As sweet as it may seem, writing your own wedding vow is quite a challenge, especially for those who do not have an inclination towards poetry and all the sweet sounding stuff. You need not fret for there is still a way to make your personalized chord of love words.

Get permission first

First things first, get a clearance from your officiant. Be it a civil wedding or church wedding, there are several statutory stuff that they might require you to mention in your wedding ceremony. Some religions prefer traditional vows. After you have been given the go signal, you then have an option whether to recite the full traditional vows or just incorporate some of it in your own vows. It is also imperative to ask your partner if he is okay with concocting your own vows as well. The two of you have to decide whether you’ll be reciting just one vow, or make separate messages of love.

Decide on your speech style

Is it going to be humorous or utterly romantic? Decide on the mood that you want to evoke and ask your partner as well.  Whatever style you would choose, it is often suggested that you use formal vows at the end of your speech to solemnize this blissful event.

Make an outline of what you would want to say

You are positively beaming with love and endearment for your soon to be spouse, but oftentimes it could be difficult to put them into writing. There are several questions that you could answer to guide you in making the body of your speech. You can mention several special places that have marked a special spot in your relationship. What is the greatest thing you love about your partner, your first kiss, why do you want to marry this person and how this person was able to change your life are just some of the amazing things that you could include in your vow.

Consult a professional

If you still can’t seem to put every inch of your emotion into writing, it is then time to consult a pro. You can learn several mushy love quotes from famous poets. You could also read through selection of popular wedding vows and you might find something that you can incorporate into your own.

The real time

Perform or recite your wedding vows to people who you trust. It can be a friend or a family member who could be a writer. In this case, he might be able to put in useful suggestions to your vow. Once you have a final draft of your wedding vow, take several days to practice it out loud until you are comfortable with it.

Remember, when you are uttering your own wedding vow, you should speak naturally and just watch your spouse cry with glee.
