Learn about the different subjects that your videographer can be filming for you, and how important it is for you to communicate those special moments that you want captured on film.

When you go to speak with your videographer, you will want to know ahead of time what kind of footage you want them to shoot: before wedding photos, ceremony, and/or reception.
When it comes to video, usually a videographer is hired to shoot the ceremony and/or the reception. When you see ceremony video, sometimes the camera is far away or in a stationary position throughout. This is not the fault of the videographer, but more likely the fact that churches do not allow the videographer to move around once the ceremony starts. For this reason, couples will sometimes want to have more than one camera at the ceremony to get the different angles—-walking up the aisle, the ceremony itself, and a good view of the couple leaving the church.
Reception videography includes the receiving line, toasts, first dance, key dances (bride and her father, groom and his mother, newlyweds dancing), cake table and cake cutting, bouquet toss, garter toss, and of course candid pictures of your guests. Be clear with the videographer exactly those things you want them to be sure to shoot.
When you create your wedding day program, your videographer should get a copy so they can be sure to be there to shoot that activity, instead of shooting your uncle Bob telling a great story about you at the other end of the room. Communication is the key with your videographer.
Enjoy!
