Choosing A Photographer

This module explains the Photographer’s Assignment Checklist.  This is a form you will give the photographer that specifies the date, time, and location of the places where you expect him or her to be on your wedding day.  Coupled with the Photography Subjects checklist (which tells them the photos you want taken), it should ensure you get the photographs that you want of your wedding.

The following article is an example of the content we have in our online wedding planning membership site HappyWeddings.ca under the heading of Photographer. To learn more and get useful wedding planning tools for FREE click here!

Each step in this module has given you the information you need to make an informed decision in choosing a photographer and his or her services.

We have covered different photography styles, and explored the many subjects that you might want your photographer to cover.  Whether you choose a large wedding package, or a more streamlined package, and whether you choose to go with a digital wedding album or a more traditional album, everything has been explained so you can make a decision that suits your specific needs and budget.

In SmartBride Checklist number three—Packages and Cost Saving Tips, you were given the opportunity to define what you actually want in terms of a photographer and their services.  SmartBride checklist number four gave you the questions to ask the photographer so you can get the information you need to decide which photographer you will hire.

Once you have weighed all the information, compared prices and packages, and chosen your photographer, there is one last checklist to fill out.  This checklist is called the Photographer’s Assignment, and is actually for you to give to the photographer.  In it you will specify where you want the photographer to be, and at what times.  The location contact person and phone numbers are also listed in case there is a problem.  So if you have asked them to photograph the pre-ceremony moments while you get dressed, and have those special moments with your parents and wedding party, it will be filled out on the checklist.  You may also want to make them a copy of checklist number two so they will get all those special shots that you feel are important to get.

You should feel secure in your choice of photographer.  The next module explores contract details.  Be sure you take the time you need to get all the details.
