When do you order your stationary? Your wedding invitations should be sent out six to eight weeks before your wedding date. You will need at least 3 months to get your order, depending on who your supplier is, and then add another month for you to get some quotes and decide on your stationary design. You will need another two or three weeks to address and assemble your invitations and mail them out. So calculate back from your wedding date and order your stationary. If your timeline is shorter, don’t panic. A lot depends upon your stationary choice, and where you order it—more on that later.
Save-the-date cards are usually sent out nine months before the wedding to your out-of-town guests. Depending upon your personal timeline in planning your wedding, you might order simple save-the-date cards that may or may not be in your final wedding stationary style.
If you are opting for the personal hand-written letter to invite your guests, give yourself the appropriate time to write out all the invitations for your number of guests.
Formal invitations that are engraved take the longest for a print shop to make. More contemporary invitations that are laser printed or use thermography usually take less time. Each individual print shop in your city or town will also have different timelines, so be sure to enquire.
