There are seven different receptions that you can choose from, and each one can be fun, enjoyable and entertaining for your guests. There is no rule that says you need a sit-down dinner. We look at some options and invite you to revisit the Vision module to remind you of your other choices. If you want everyone on your guest lists at your wedding, there is an alternative to make it work.

Well, that darn budget just isn’t growing, and something has to give. If you really must have everyone on your wedding guest list at your wedding, you must make the reception fit the number of guests. That means adjusting your reception plans.
The real option here is to eliminate the evening sit-down meal, which is your biggest cost. Consider a lunch or breakfast reception as it is much less expensive. Depending upon your numbers it can get everyone to your wedding without the same expense as an evening sit-down meal. Still a little tight? How about an afternoon cocktail reception or evening cake and champagne reception? How about an informal backyard BBQ?
Go back over your vision checklists. We have listed so many options there, that you are sure to find a reasonable alternative. Find a venue where you bring in your own food, and opt for an afternoon reception with platters purchased from your local grocery store. You can arrange for more than just cold meat and cheese—-there are so many options, so shop around. Create your own cold food buffet!
Talk to your caterer—if they know your budget, they can create something suitable to fit. Many caterers are quite flexible so don’t be afraid to ask. If the caterer is not cooperating, find one who will.
You can have everyone at your reception—you just have to make the reception fit the number of guests. If you just HAVE to have your reception the way you planned it, then you have to trim the guest list to fit the reception. The next topic in this module will help you explore that option.
