If you have more elaborate wedding flowers, and want a floral designer or someone who specializes in weddings, you need to know where to look, and what questions to ask. We guide our members through that maze in this informative post.
The following article is an example of the content we have in our online wedding planning membership site HappyWeddings.ca under the heading of Florist. To learn more and get useful wedding planning tools for FREE, click here!
The most common florist that people are familiar with is the shop that sells flowers, corsages and arrangements for Mother’s Day, Birthdays, Christmas, and so on. Then, there are those florist shops that have wire service arrangements, and do wedding and other special events. Then there are the florist shops that specialize in weddings. If you are having a casual wedding, with simple flower arrangements set up by your cousin, any flower shop or flower wholesaler will supply you with flowers. If you are having a large formal wedding and want elaborate flower arrangements, finding a florist that specializes in wedding is your best bet.
As with finding any wedding vendor, ask a lot of questions. Check the yellow pages. Talk to other brides online. Ask friends who have recently married where they got their flowers and be sure to ask how happy they were with the service and the price. Ask at your ceremony and reception site to see if they have anyone they would refer. When you find a florist you think might be great, ask for references. Talk to couples that have used the florist in the last 6 months, and ask probing question. Did they show up on time at your wedding site? Were there any problems? Where the flowers what you wanted? Did the flower arrangements turn out the way you thought they would?
Don’t forget to check the better business bureau, as we discussed in the first cluster of videos under Start Here. Any potential problems with a wedding vendor will show up there.
